This guide covers Regular Residential proxies, which use the rp.scrapegw.com host. (For the Unlimited Residential package, see the Unlimited Residential proxies overview.) Once you have chosen a country (see Regular Residential (rp.scrapegw.com) - Country targeting), you can narrow your proxies down further to a specific state or city by appending an extra string to your proxy username. State and city targeting always builds on top of country targeting — put the -country-xx string first, then the state or city string.

Target a state

Append -state- followed by the state name (lowercase, no spaces) after the country string:
  • -state-texas
  • -state-california
Examples (username first, then the location strings):
  • billgates-country-us-state-texas — United States, Texas
  • billgates-country-us-state-california — United States, California

Target a city

Append -city- followed by the city name (lowercase, no spaces) after the country string:
  • -city-houston
  • -city-losangeles
Examples:
  • billgates-country-us-city-houston — United States, Houston
  • billgates-country-us-city-losangeles — United States, Los Angeles
Target a state or a city — not both at the same time. In the dashboard, both options are offered in the same “State/Region” dropdown, so you select one region per proxy.

Combine with a sticky session

You can hold the same IP within your chosen state or city by adding a sticky session. Append the location string(s) first, then the session string:
  • billgates-country-us-state-texas-session-1235469420-lifetime-15 — 15 minute sticky session in Texas, United States
  • billgates-country-us-city-houston-session-1235469420-lifetime-10 — 10 minute sticky session in Houston, United States

Build it in the dashboard

You can also generate these strings from the dashboard: go to the “Proxy Setup” section, choose your Country, then pick a state or city from the State/Region dropdown. The appended characters are generated at the end of your username for you to copy and paste into your program.
