# Using proxies in the ProxyScrape proxy checker

> Test whether your proxies are working, and check their speed, anonymity, and country, with the ProxyScrape proxy checker.

The [ProxyScrape proxy checker](https://proxyscrape.com/proxy-checker) lets you verify that your proxies are online and inspect their speed, anonymity level, and country. It works with both our own proxies and proxies from other sources.

## Check your proxies

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the proxy checker">
    Go to the [proxy checker](https://proxyscrape.com/proxy-checker).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Paste your proxies">
    Enter your proxies, one per line, in the `ip:port` format. If your proxies use username and password authentication, use the `ip:port:username:password` format instead.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select the protocol">
    Choose the protocol your proxies use — HTTP, SOCKS4, or SOCKS5. If you are unsure, see [Are the proxies HTTP(s), Socks4, or Socks5?](/proxies/are-the-proxies-http-s-socks4-or-socks5).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Run the check">
    Start the check. The tool reports whether each proxy is working along with its response time, anonymity level, and country.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Reading the results

* **Status** — whether the proxy responded successfully.
* **Response time** — how long the proxy took to respond. See [How fast are the proxies?](/proxies/how-fast-are-the-proxies) for the expected timings per product.
* **Anonymity** — the anonymity level detected. See [What anonymity level are the proxies?](/proxies/what-anonymity-level-are-the-proxies).
* **Country** — the country the proxy's exit IP is located in.

<Note>
  If you authenticate by IP rather than by username and password, make sure the device running the check has an [authenticated IP](/proxies/how-to-authenticate-my-ip) — otherwise the proxies will be reported as not working.
</Note>

<Tip>
  If a proxy shows as offline unexpectedly, work through [Why are proxies not working?](/proxies/why-are-proxies-not-working) before contacting support.
