# Residential proxies overview

> What ProxyScrape Regular Residential proxies are — a large, rotating pool of real residential IPs on the rp.scrapegw.com host.

[Regular Residential proxies](https://proxyscrape.com/products/residential-proxies) route your traffic through real residential IP addresses, which are more likely to be trusted by target websites. They use the `rp.scrapegw.com` host and rotate the exit IP on every request by default. This page covers the Regular Residential product. (For the separate Unlimited Residential package, see the [Unlimited Residential overview](/proxies/unlimited-residential/overview).)

## A large, rotating residential pool

* The pool consists of around **55+ million residential proxies**, with at least **300,000** expected online at any time.
* Proxies are **shared** among customers and **rotate automatically** with each request.
* Residential proxies support **username and password authentication**.
* **Protocols:** HTTP and SOCKS5. The SOCKS5 proxies support **TCP** only.
