# How to authenticate my IP?

> Learn how to authenticate your IP for Premium and Dedicated proxies and how long to wait before first use.

IP authentication is available for our datacenter [**Premium**](https://proxyscrape.com/products/premium) and [**Dedicated**](https://proxyscrape.com/products/dedicated-proxies) proxies. It allows you to whitelist your device's IP address so our proxy network can recognize it. Note that [**Residential**](https://proxyscrape.com/products/residential-proxies) proxies use username and password authentication instead.

### Premium proxies

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the Proxy List">
    Go to the ["Proxy List"](https://dashboard.proxyscrape.com/v2/services/premium/proxy-list/) section of the dashboard.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select IP authentication">
    Click on "Prefer IP authentication instead?"
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add your device IP">
    Choose "My IP" or manually enter the IP address of the device you will be using with the proxies.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Click "Save."

### Dedicated proxies

  <Step title="Open the IP authentication page">
    Go to the [IP authentication page](https://dashboard.proxyscrape.com/v2/services/dedicated/ip-authentication/) in your dashboard.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add your device IP">
    **Using this device:** Click the "My IP" button to use your current device's IP.

    **Using another device:** On that device, open [https://api.ipify.org/](https://api.ipify.org/) and copy the displayed IP into the IP address box on your dashboard.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Click "Save" to complete the authentication.
  </Step>

  Only **IPv4** is supported, not IPv6.

<Warning>
  After saving, wait about **10 minutes** before using the proxies. This allows your IP to sync across the network. Using the proxies sooner may cause connection failures.
